CONST 109 Employment Preparation

Explains the history of apprenticeship, its subsequent evolution into the present-day form, and how this translates into an effective method of on-the-job training resulting in journeyman credentials that are recognized industrywide throughout this country and in many other parts of the world. Provides an overview of government agencies, regulatory bodies and actual regulations that affect the construction industry. Participants are also given information related to job success, including but not limited to, ethical standards, attitude and behavioral expectations, teamwork and communication strategies, personal financial management, ergonomics, physical fitness and nutrition, and use of basic MS Office computer programs to conduct job search activities.
