Magnetic Particle and Liquid Penetrant Testing Certificate
Provides foundational knowledge related to nondestructive testing (NDT) and offers the opportunity to gain hands-on training in the NDT methods of magnetic particle inspection, liquid penetrant inspection, and visual inspection.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Magnetic Particle & Liquid Penetrant Testing certificate, students will be able to:
- Choose equipment of a given magnetic particle field inspection per ASTM Standard E1444/E1444M.
- Test for the field direction for the magnetic particle inspection per ASTM Standard E1444/E1444M.
- Inspect for the ultraviolet light intensity for the magnetic particle inspection per ASTM Standard E1444/E1444M.
- Perform the magnetic particle field inspection per ASTM Standard E1444/E1444M.
Program Length
The certificate program is two-to-three quarters in length, depending on the time students need to satisfactorily complete all graduation requirements.

Completion Requirements
Prerequisite(s)
Successful completion of ENG 091 or equivalent and successful completion of MAT 092 or equivalent by the end of the first quarter of the program.
