Advanced Powertrain Technician Certificate

This ASE-certified Certificate prepares students for entry-level positions as Automotive Drivetrain technicians. Students participate in realistic training experiences that prepare them for pre-apprenticeship training and ASE certification.

Students are required to complete the Maintenance and light repair certificate or FORD MLR certificate prior to enrolment in the Advanced Powertrain certificate. Certificate and degree required academic courses should be completed prior to enrolment in this certificate. Academic courses in communication, quantitative reasoning, and social sciences that provide knowledge and abilities that enhance personal development and serve as a foundation for technical skills.

General Degree / Certificate Requirements

To receive a certificate or degree in an automotive program, all technical courses must be completed with a 2.0 GPA or higher. Students must complete the Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair Certificate before taking , engine performance, transmission, or drivetrain courses or instructor permission will be required. To remain in the program, all students must have the required textbooks and Tools prior to the start of the second week of classes.

Students pursuing an AAT degree must complete all college degree requirements prior to graduation.

Program Length

This Certificate is approximately 3 quarters long, depending on the time students need to satisfactorily complete all graduation requirements.

Admission Dates

Students may enter at the start of Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer quarters.

• Utilize manufacturer specifications, technical bulletins, and industry best practices to support diagnostic and repair decisions.
